HORIZON CONVENTION CENTER

The Horizon Convention Center is an innovative mix of historic beauty and modern design. Formerly Muncie's Federal Building, the Horizon Convention Center is beautiful, as is evident in the glass-enclosed pavilion, the outdoor terrace, and the classical splendor of the lobby's original interior. A 1996 expansion increased the facility's meeting space to 47,000 square feet.

The Horizon Convention Center is ideal for conventions and conferences of 30 to 750 attendees, with space to accommodate everything from large main sessions to small breakout sessions.  On-site catering and an in-house audio/visual department make for easy planning and coordination, along with a staff dedicated to make your event perfect.


City of Muncie

The City of Muncie is celebrating its sesquicentennial year this year. That's 150 years of developing and improving our community. Dennis Tyler is the Mayor of Muncie.

The Mayor is the city executive and the head of the executive branch. The specific duties and responsibilities are defined by state statutes (Indiana Code 36-4-5). A few of those items include: enforcement of City and State statutes, informing the legislative body a variety of required items of information, make recommendations to the legislative body, supervise subordinate officers, ensure efficient government of the city, and approve or veto ordinances, orders, and resolutions of the legislative body.

Muncie Sanitary District

The Muncie Sanitary District (MSD), created under Indiana State law in 1968 by the action of an Ordinance of the City of Muncie, Ind., provides services to the public in the areas of code enforcement, engineering, sanitation, sewer maintenance, storm water management, water pollution control and recycling. In addition to these services, the MSD maintains a statewide position of leadership in green infrastructure through its commitment to programs and initiatives that make the Muncie community a better place to live.

The MSD initiated the Blue Bag Recycling Program in Muncie. Now, 48% of the waste stream is recycled, creating a greener Muncie. This program earned the National Green City Award and the Governor's Award of Excellence. The MSD's newest project is GreenLine, the first compressed natural gas station in ECI.
