Muncie Downtown Development Partnership Announces Amanda Holmquist as Executive Director

The Muncie Downtown Development Partnership (MDDP) announced today the appointment of Amanda Holmquist as its new Executive Director, effective January 19, 2026.

Holmquist brings more than 20 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, strategic communications, fundraising, and community engagement, along with deep personal and professional ties to downtown Muncie. She previously served on the MDDP Board of Directors when longtime Executive Director Vicki Veach began her tenure more than 15 years ago, providing Holmquist with a unique perspective on the organization’s growth and impact over time.

“Amanda is the right leader for this moment,” said Garrett Doan, MDDP Board President. “She understands downtown—not just strategically, but personally. Her ability to build partnerships, tell compelling stories, and lead through transition will help position MDDP for its next chapter while honoring the strong foundation already in place.”

Holmquist most recently served as Vice President of Marketing & Community Relations for the Crossroads of America Council, Scouting America, where she led integrated communications and fundraising strategies across 26 counties and served as a senior advisor during a period of organizational transition. Her career also includes more than a decade at Ball State University, where she led annual giving, institutional advertising, and executive communications.

Her connection to downtown Muncie extends well beyond her professional résumé. Holmquist has lived and worked downtown, led walking tours for Ball State University families during orientation, and has long been an advocate for downtown revitalization, civic engagement, and community-driven development.

“Downtown Muncie has always been close to my heart,” Holmquist said. “I have seen firsthand how a strong, vibrant downtown can shape a community’s identity and economic future. I’m honored to step into this role and build on the momentum created by the Muncie Downtown Development team, and so many dedicated partners and volunteers over the years.”

Holmquist succeeds Vicki Veach, who will remain until the end of March to assist with the transition before stepping away from the organization to pursue other interests. “Under Veach’s leadership, MDDP strengthened its organizational capacity, expanded partnerships, and played a central role in advancing downtown Muncie as a destination for residents, businesses, and visitors.”

Holmquist holds a Master of Arts in Public Relations and a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Ball State University and is an active community volunteer in Delaware County
