Fire Up DWNTWN Celebrates Fifth Year on August 1 with Biggest Lineup Yet
Mark your calendars for Saturday, August 1, from noon to 10 p.m., as the 5th Annual Fire Up DWNTWN, presented by Ivy Tech Muncie and produced by Muncie Downtown Development Partnership, returns to downtown Muncie. The event is a free, full-day celebration for all ages featuring live music and entertainment on three stages, local food vendors, contests, games, and DWNTWN IDOL performances.
The popular special shape hot air balloons return to fill the downtown skyline. Visitors can also enjoy tethered hot air balloon rides, get up close to balloon baskets, and experience the Balloon Glow Show and Fly Over at dusk.
New this year is an exciting slate of added attractions. Thrill-seekers can take on the zipline, while aviation fans can catch model aircraft demos and pick up a free balsa wood plane kit courtesy of the Academy of Model Aeronautics. The Helicopter Duck Drop gives attendees who purchase a duck the chance to win prizes from DWNTWN merchants or the $500 grand prize. RC car racing demos from Muncie Performance RC and a Kids Area hosted by Delta Baseball Club round out the new additions.
"Fire Up DWNTWN has grown into one of the community's most anticipated summer traditions, and we're excited to celebrate our fifth year with an incredible lineup of entertainment and attractions," said Amanda Holmquist, Executive Director of Muncie Downtown Development Partnership. "Whether you're coming for the balloons, the food, the music, or simply to spend time with family and friends, there's something for everyone to enjoy in downtown Muncie."
